Volunteer Opportunities in Ward PTO

Parent volunteers play a critical role in the Ward School community.  We have a important volunteer opportunities that are in need of volunteers so if you're interested please contact Beth Coomber at www.wardpto.org/contact/volunteer or 617-332-2904.

• Library Volunteers:  Work during your child's library time and get an inside peek into the classroom.  This is an easy job to split with others so that it can be a twice a month 45 minute commitment. 
• Banners and Posters:  Do you work but want to be-in-the-loop for what's going on at school?  We need someone who is willing to customize banners for events that occur every 2-3 weeks (for example, Mystery Night, Fun-A-Thon, Curriculum Night...)
• Mystery Night Organizing Committee Members:  Help Beth and Batya plan this cool event that will occur in late October or early November.
• Thank you note writers:  PTO is always working on thanx notes and we can always use a hand.  Perfect evening activity for those with little time.
• Political Action Committee:  This committee educates the Ward School community on issues affecting the school on a city or state level.  One parent volunteer is needed to organize community efforts to influence local and state legislative activities related to education through appropriate telephone, email, and letter campaigns.  Regular attendance is required at School and PTO meetings.  Time commitment is dependent upon current issues impacting education.  (The PTO meets once a month ... usually Friday after drop-off.)

 

Please note that in addition to the chair opportunities above, the PTO has all types of volunteer opportunities, from being a room parent to a library volunteer. PTO groups and committees welcome additional volunteers each year.  If you've got 1 hour or 10 hours, are employed outside the home or are an at-home parent we can come up with something that will fit your schedule. Some jobs can be done at home, at night, while others are during daytime hours, or at school.   You will receive more information on all the opportunities once school starts!   We will need to have these and all volunteer positions filled by the first PTO meeting on September 19th.
