Come and join the CARE Committee and help out your community. Register your child for the event.
The CARe (Community Awareness and Responsibility) Committee implements projects that increase social awareness in our children. We organize events both at school and in the broader community that show how students have the ability to make a difference and to teach students the importance and impact of their individual actions. Some of our past projects include a Hoop Shoot fundraiser, making sandwiches for a shelter, creating a mural for a pediatric hospital, holiday gift drives for local organizations and food bank collections. This year we are planning a variety of events including a clothing drive for Cradles to Crayons, making goodie bags for Birthday Wishes, distributing and collecting UNICEF Halloween boxes, and collecting box tops. We have found the CARe Committee has a particularly strong impact on Ward students. They feel empowered by helping others and making a differences in other people's lives.
Our first event is scheduled for Thursday Oct. 4th from 12:30 -3:00pm. Please pack your child a lunch. We will provide a snack. We will pick your child up at his/her classroom. Our focus will be on "Playground Pride" and helping to beautify the Ward playground. We will collect trash and make posters to remind everyone to keep our playground clean. In addition the Birthday Wishes organization will be joining us so we can assemble 100 goodie bags for disadvantaged children. *THIS EVENT REQUIRES a parent to accompany their child*
