Family Math & Technology Night

Date:
03/15/2011 - 5:45pm - 03/15/2011 - 7:00pm
Location:
John Ward School

Snow date March 17th.

On this night we provide opportunities for parents and children to enjoy
math activities together.  At each grade level, there will be a
sampling of games and activities from our math curriculum that you and
your child can experience.  Classrooms will also provide math activities
that students can access on computers.  In addition, teachers will
display examples of projects where students are using technology to work
together to construct knowledge and communicate what they have
learned.  Be sure to visit our 5th grade classrooms to view our new
interactive white boards and try them out.  As part of Estimation Week,
each classroom has posed questions that are displayed in the hallway
outside the classroom.  Students are assigned questions from two grade
levels, in addition to their own, and have a master sheet to record
their estimates.  You and your child may choose to visit some of the
estimation activities assigned to your child's classroom. Our goal is to
generate discussion and provide insights into thinking and reasoning
skills.    In order to ensure safety for all students, please remember
that you are responsible for supervising your child on this evening.
