The PTO is seeking one Ward parent to participate in the Ward School Council. The School Council is an advisory group assisting the principal in identifying educational needs and goals of Ward students. The Council also reviews the school building budget and develops the school improvement plan. It holds four to six open meetings during the school year (historically in the afternoon, just after dismissal).
The School Council is comprised of the principal, current Ward teachers and parents, and community members. The number of parent representatives must be equal to the number of teachers who serve on the council plus the principal.
Current members are:
- Teachers: Denise Costello, Lisa Addleman, Lisa Petrie
- Community Member: Donna Marohn – Ward After School
- Principal: Audrey Peller.
- Parents: Mindy Peckler, Kim Creem, Christine O'Neill
Teacher and parent members of the School Council are elected by their peers. The PTO will conduct an election from the list of interested parties to fill the current vacancy within the next few weeks.
Becoming a part of the School Council is a great way to volunteer with a minimal time commitment!
