International Night ~ Volunteers Needed
International Night is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20th which is a fun-filled educational evening for the whole family celebrating the international diversity of the Ward School! Kids get "passports" to travel to international country booths and there will be an international potluck dinner as well. We especially need people to represent the countries and host the booths. Please consider volunteering for this popular event, contact Anna Olivella at firstname.lastname@example.org .
LOOKING FOR A HOLIDAY GIFT? Ward school magnets on sale for only $5 each. Email Alison Best @ email@example.com and place your order today.
Donated Halloween candy from the Ward School students were donated to a local charity and the candies will be sent to supply treats for our troops overseas.
Thanks to our Ward community and the diligence of our Ward students we raised $505.02 for Trick or Treat UNICEF. This will help families in third world countries have access to better water, food, and shelter. Way to go!!!
During our last CARe Committee event in November our theme was "Caring Cards for Kids". They were distributed to the Child Life Specialists at Newton-Wellesley Hospital to comfort kids when they are medically admitted, come out of surgery, or come into the emergency department.
Next CARe Committee event is Thursday, December 6th from 12:30-3PM. Register online atwww.wardpto.org and follow the link "Digs for Dogs". We will be making homemade toys for dogs affected by Hurricane Sandy. Elaine Sanfilippo from AdopTees will come speak to the group about her efforts and we will engage in a DIY dog craft project. Around the December holidays she will deliver our doggie gifts to the Jersey Shore (Monmouth County SPCA). There will be many happy pooches thanks to our project. In addition, Julie Mahoney from Newton at Home, Inc. will join us and we will help fold pamphlets and aid with mailing-related tasks.
Students will visit the fair during their media time (see schedule below). Volunteer sign-up forms will go home with students today. Your help is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to come during school hours consider shopping online at:http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/wardelementaryschool2. You can also access the link through the Ward School website.
