Creative Arts and Sciences (CASC)

On November 28, Cambridge based muralist David Fichter had 3 assemblies to kick off the Ward School Mural Project that will take place this year.  He spoke about the history of murals and the process of creating this genre of public art.  The students were really excited by this project in which they will all contribute to a lasting mural that will hang in the front stairwell.  The mural will be created during art classes throughout December and January.  Many thanks to the Massachusetts Cultural Council for providing Ward School with a STARS Residency Grant for this project.

Additionally, all of the grades will have an CASC enrichment program in the month of December.

December 12 - The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will visit Grades 1 - 5 for a variety of programs designed to build awareness and respect for the importance of water in our community's daily life.  For more info visit

December 13 - Kindergarten classes will have a visit from beloved children's book author and illustrator Miko Imai.

December 20 - Grade 2 classes will welcome Author Suzy Kline as a compliment to their writer's workshop curricula.

Creative Arts and Sciences is generously funded through PTO contributions.  CASC sponsors curricula related programs throughout the year and brings artists, writers, musicians, historians and scientists into the classrooms to present very special programs that build upon what the students are learning.  Please feel free to contact Sheryl at with any questions.
