From the Principal's Desk
March 21, 2014
Dear Ward Families,
The cold seems to be abating (finally) which gives us hope that spring may actually come this year.
Audrey Peller continues to make steady and positive progress with her recovery, and she now expects to be back at Ward after April vacation. She will return on a part-time basis at first, increasing her time as she regains her strength. I will remain at Ward until April vacation, except for the week of April 7, when I will be taking a previously planned vacation. I will also be back for a couple of days after vacation to meet with Audrey and finish up some of the projects I started while I was here. While I had not expected to be at Ward for this length of time, I have enjoyed working with the staff, families, and especially the students. In particular, I have recently had the opportunity to cover a few different classrooms due to teacher absences, and that has been great fun for me!
Ward School has traditionally held a Math Night during March each year. This year we are changing the format, and are planning a Math Morning, which is scheduled for Friday, May 2, from 8:20 to 9:00 am. We are hoping that more families will be able to attend during the morning, and are looking forward to a good turnout of parents. You will hear more about this in the coming weeks.
Although I will only be here for a couple of more weeks, I encourage you to contact me with any questions or concerns at Stephen_Griffin@newton.k12.ma.us. Thank you for your continued support and understanding while I do my best to support the Ward community while Audrey is recovering.
