RARE OPPORTUNITY FOR PARENTS!

ONE CREATIVE ARTS AND SCIENCES POSITION OPEN. APPLICATIONS DUE 3/31/15.

For the first time in six years, we are seeking one individual to join the leadership team of the Creative Arts and Sciences (CASC) at Ward School. This once-in-a-Ward-School-career opportunity is one of the most coveted and meaningful volunteer positions in elementary school. You'll have the chance to meet with children's book authors, screen the latest programs for elementary schools, and enjoy arts and science-based performances in the classroom and at whole-school assemblies.  If you are interested, please contact Jen Weber and Dawn Davis to receive an application-dawndavis12@gmail.com. Candidates will be evaluated on previous volunteer work, availability for the coming school year, and level of interest in the arts and sciences. Deadline for consideration is March 31, 2015. Thank you, best wishes, and good luck!

 2015-2016 Ward PTO
Join the team and make a difference! We are in need of the following volunteers for next year's PTO.
Co-President - join Linda Gillespie and lead the team. Be creative, and find a friend to join you to divide the work.
Grant Writer - for the first time in years, we would like to find someone to help the PTO and school write grants for various programs/projects in and outside of the school.
Website - we are eager to revamp the PTO website and need a person or 2 who can run this project.
Classifieds - In the past years we've included relevant classifieds at the bottom of the ForWard including camps, after school activities and tutoring info. If we are to resume this service, we need a volunteer to work on this each week.

5th Grade Community Service Project

This year's 5th grade community service project will benefit Birthday Wishes. The mission of Birthday Wishes is to provide birthday parties for homeless children. We believe that all children, regardless of their living situation, should celebrate their birthdays joyfully, surrounded by family, friends, and others who care. Our grassroots philosophy fosters the spirit of volunteerism and community service in the adults, children, and families who donate their time and resources to the Birthday Wishes mission.

Birthday Wishes brings the magic of a birthday party to thousands of homeless children each year. Founded in 2002 as a volunteer organization serving one local shelter, Birthday Wishes has expanded its program to serve more than 200 shelters and transitional living facilities in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Long Island, New York. During the week of April 13-17, the 5th grade will be holding a "goody bag" drive. We are asking the entire school to drop off items (in a bin in the front lobby) that will be put in goody bags for birthday parties for homeless children. Please bring in bouncy balls, pencils, stickers, anything little that is fun and appropriate for a goody bag.

Thank you for your help - The Ward School 5th grade
