From the Principal's Desk

We are grateful to the class of 2015 for donating a beautiful display board for photos of our staff. Special thanks go to Duke Duchnowski for creating the board, Anna Olivella for taking the beautiful photos of our staff members, and Monika Sawicka and Magda Duchnowska for organizing the project. The board is located in the hallway outside our main office. I know this will be helpful to families in identifying the many staff members working in our building.

Our School Nurse, Andrea Fraser, has returned to Washington, D.C. with her family. For the remainder of the school year, Nurse Karin Lieberman will be returning to the Health Room part-time; Nurse Alicia Nurnberger will also be filling in. We were able to arrange for overlap time so that all information could be communicated to the new staff.

I want to thank Mindy Peckler, Kimberly Creem, and Marcia Heron for their work on our School Council. All three will be leaving Ward as their youngest child graduates this June. Mindy Peckler served as co-chair and helped to plan agendas and communicate to members. School Council is an advisory body to the principal composed of parents, staff, and a community member. It has truly been a pleasure to work with these parents as we discussed topics related to education. In the fall, the PTO will be conducting an election to fill these positions.

Below is a letter from the Newton Schools Foundation asking for your support in their Honor Thy Teacher Campaign.
