Message from School Principal
Rumors, rumors, rumors are more plentiful than the falling leaves. Just so that everyone knows, there have been no edicts from me regarding some of the beloved Ward activities.

While some may have a new look, we will be having:
  • the Circus
  • The Halloween Hoot
  • the Hero/Shero project
  • the Musical, and
  • Community Meetings
In addition, there will be a 5th grade staff volleyball game, and a "Peek Week" where parents will be able to participate in their child's P.E. class.

I hope this addresses the confusion around these activities. More information will follow as each event approaches.

Have a good Columbus Day weekend!

Elaine Harold, Interim Principal

Thank You for Pizza Night

Thank you to all the families that came out for Pizza Night!

A great time was had by all, and we thank you for your ongoing support of Ward

Hosts Needed for Grade-Wide Potluck Dinners

We're still looking for Hosts for the 2nd and 3rd grade dinners, so If you'd be willing to host, here's some more information.

Every year, the PTO coordinates dinners for the parents in each grade so that we can all get to know each better.  The host's job is to open your home to about 40 adults, send out the email invite (with the email list we'll give you), and provide paper plates and utensils and drinks.  The guests will bring all of the food.  These are adults-only events; kids stay at home.
If you're willing to host, please email Kathy Shields and we can find a date that works for you.

CASC Presents: Language of the Ancients,
New England Percussion Ensemble
On Monday, October 16, at 9am, Ward  Creative Arts and Sciences Committee will present the New England Percussion Ensemble's production of the Language of the Ancients.
In their program, "Language of the Ancients," the New England Percussion Ensemble will present a multicultural blend of music on percussive instruments from around the globe. With recreations of prehistoric log drums to the electric vibraphone the ensemble reaches across time and continents with a collection of rhythms and instruments from Africa, Europe, Asia, South America, and the United States.
CASC programs are funded by your generous contributions to the PTO.

Ward Night at the Celtics
On December 13, please join your Ward friends for a fun night at the TD Garden.

Flyers were sent home this week.

Please deposit your check/application (made out to Ward PTO) in the Celtics mailbox in the school lobby.

Ward School Annual Fund

Every dollar counts and we NEED YOUR FAMILY to make this year's drive
a success!
The Ward Parent Teacher Organization (of which all Ward parents and teachers are automatically members) spends $150-$200 per child per year on top of what the City of Newton allots for your child's education and enrichment.
For your child, this means:
  • classroom technology,
  • books and supplies for classrooms and the school,
  • library and class parties,
  • community activities including the fall and spring picnics, and
  • all of our Creative Arts & Sciences programming throughout the year.

Please mail your contribution to:

WARD SCHOOL PTO, 10 Dolphin Road, Newton Centre, MA 02459
All checks to be made to:  WARD PTO
Credit cards can be used on our website: www.WARDPTO.Org
(Please consider adding 5% to your donation for our service fee).
Please consider using corporate matching programs when available to maximize the proceeds to the PTO.
