Annual Fund

Will you be an important part of this year's success?

The Ward School Annual Fund need you to help us drive toward our annual goal.  Of course, a gift of any size to the Fund is appreciated by us, and the easiest and most cost efficient way of making your gift is going online to http://www.wardpto.org/

Thanks once again for your support of Ward School!

Walk to School Wednesday/Safe Routes to School

We had a Halloween Candy Hangover & postponed our usual first Wednesday of the month Walk to School day until next Wednesday, November 8th.

We'll be back with bubbles, jokes and surprises next week!

Artsonia Update

New artwork was uploaded and is ready for purchase for kindergarten, first, and fourth grades. The holiday season is fast approaching, order now and help out the art program. 20% of each purchase goes directly back to the program.

Order now!

Notecards, trivets, aprons, mugs, and magnets are just a few of the available options. They make wonderful host/hostess gifts too! And don't forget thank you cards - what child does not love to write a thank you card that highlights their own artwork?

Also, Artsonia is looking for a new volunteer to run the program. Lena Goodwin is the parent of a 5th grader and will not be here to run the program next year. It takes about 4-6 hours a month and you can do it on your own schedule. Ideally the new person would take over when the new art teacher starts at the end of November 2017.

Please contact Lena directly if you are interested at lenagoodwin@mac.com

Ward School Directory

By now you should have in your hands the key to play dates for the rest of the year - the Ward School Directory.  If your family has not received one, pleas contact the directory team at directory@wardpto.org.
You can always access the directory information online through  MySchoolAnywhere, linked here through the Ward PTO website, and we encourage you to download the MySchoolAnywhere app to make connecting with other Ward families even easier.  The app is available on the Apple App Store and on Google Play.

Many thanks to our AMAZING directory team, Becca Havemeyer, Megan Flynn, and Yili Dola.  Also thanks to Linda Gillespie, advisor in residence.  If you are willing to help with the directory next year, please let us know at directory@wardpto.org

Community Connections/
NPS Race, Culture & Identity Initiatives

Our next meeting of the Ward Community Connections group is on Thursday November 9th at 7:30 to 9pm, at Angier Elementary.  Everyone is welcome, even if you were not able to come to the first meeting in October.

This meeting will offer an opportunity for our Ward team to work together, as well as share ideas with folks from other schools.  We hope you can make it!

In December, we'd like to meet just as a Ward group and are considering Tuesday 12/5 or Wednesday 12/13 in the evening. Please take this doodle poll to let us know which date you prefer. Thank you!

Green Newton School Connections

Green Newton has a forum for Newton parents and teachers interested in promoting sustainability in the classroom and beyond. The group offers a setting for sharing experiences and ideas as well as support in facing challenges in implementing green initiatives in schools. This is an opportunity for parents and staff to connect on issues of recycling, composting and school garden projects.

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, November 15th at 3:45pm at the Peirce School, 170 Temple Street in West Newton.

Please contact Marcia at iinfo@greennewton.org if you are interested.
