Ward Annual Fund

Dear Ward School Families,

Hello again from your friends at the PTO.

Fall is well underway and so is our most important fundraiser - the Annual Fund Campaign. As we all know, the teachers and staff at Ward work tirelessly to foster students' growth each and every day - but to bring the most incredible learning experience possible to our children, it's up to all of us together to raise $40,000.

Our effort will be short (through December 31st). Most importantly, it will only be successful with everybody's participation!  No amount is too small, every dollar counts (remember that $10 buys a book)!

We need your family to make this year's drive a success!

All donated funds go directly to our children and the Ward school!

Please drop off a check in the box at the entrance to the school, our donate hereA special thanks to the families who have already generously donated!

If you have any questions, please contact your PTO team (Gabriela, Bill and Zlatena) at: copresidents@wardpto.org

PTO Coffee and Conversation with Principal

Mark your calendar for this evening edition of the PTO coffee and conversation with Principal Brogadir:  November 5, 7-8pm at the library

You will hear an update from the principal and see a presentation about the New Equity Guidelines which will be implemented in 2019/20 school year. To see the New Equity Guidelines (approved by the School Committee on 06-18-18) go here.

Auction Time

Now that the Mystery Dinner is but a fabulous memory, it is time to start thinking about the Winter Auction and Spring Gala! The Auction will be held online this year January 24th - 31st, followed by a Spring Gala on the evening of April 6th at Union Street in Newton Centre (Save the Date!!)

Many auction items are donated from local businesses, but a larger proportion actually come from the Ward School community itself. So please give some thought to how your family may be able to contribute. Here are some ideas:

  • Do you have gift cards that aren't being used? We'll take 'em!
  • Do you have a skill you could share via lessons (sports, music, cooking etc)? Always a hot seller!
  • Are you willing to donate some of your professional expertise or time (legal services, chef services, decorating services, etc)? Bonus, promote your business!
  • Do you have a vacation home you'd be willing to offer for a weekend? Lucky you!
  • Are you friends with any local/national/international celebrities? Are you willing to ask for memorabilia? Don't be shy!
  • Do you have season tickets to local teams? Are you willing to donate a game or two? Or three!
  • Are you friends with local business owners who may be willing to make a donation? Call in favors!

Lastly, there are additional opportunities for sponsoring a portion of the event if your business doesn't lend itself easily to auction items. Please speak with us if you're interested! You can promote your business while helping out Ward School. Your contributions are tax deductible and directly benefit the students at Ward School!

Send us a message or come say hi at pickup or dropoff if you have something to offer - be creative!

Newton South Preschool

Newton South Preschool, a public preschool program, is currently accepting applications for September of 2019.

The preschool is a child development lab school and is part of the Family and Consumer Sciences Department at Newton South High School. In addition to providing high quality early education and care, the program serves as an internship site for high school students who are taking early childhood courses.

We serve children 2.9-5 years old.  The program is open from 7:00am-5:00pm and follows the Newton Public Schools calendar. Full day and half day options are available.

Our teachers hold M.Ed.'s in Early Childhood and are licensed by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Our program is accredited by NAEYC (the National Association for the Education of Young Children).
