 Square 1 Art Orders Due
Wednesday, November 5th
Celebrate your child's creativity with wonderful gift ideas that display their artwork! Look for the packet that came home Friday and the wide variety of cards, mugs, ornaments and more....all perfect for keepsakes and gifts. They're all made by your own child, with the help our art teacher Amy Broder. 33% of orders come back to Ward school to support our special performances and assemblies through the PTO Creative Arts and Sciences program. Orders should be placed in the "Square 1 Art" box in the school lobby no later than Wednesday, November 5th. |
Mystery Dinner Reservations Due
Friday, November 5th
Join us for a fun-filled evening on Friday, November 14th. After you gather at the Gershkowitz Home for appetizers, you'll uncover your mystery dinner location hosted at a secret Ward School family home. There are variety of themed dinners offered, from "A Night In Northern Italy" to "Asian Inspiration". Then reconvene for delectable desserts and coffee with the larger group. For the cost of going out to a restaurant, you'll get to know your fellow parents while supporting your children's educational experience at Ward. RSVPs should be placed in the "Mystery Dinner" box in the lobby before Nov. 5th. Lost the invitation that came home last week? No-problem. Just fill out another copy in the lobby and enclose your check.

Cradles to Crayons Drive
Nov. 3rd- Nov. 7th
Clean out your closets and help us help others! The CARE Committee is sponsoring a drive for Cradles to Crayons which provides new and gently used clothes, toys, books, and baby equipment to children in need. Bring your donations to the lobby this week. We are also looking for volunteers at the city-wide collection day on November 8th for a 1- 2 hour commitment. We will need people from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Newton Cultural Center to set up, sort items, and clean up at the end of the day. It will be a great community day for families. Any chance you can help? Bring the kids - everyone can help! Please call Amy Silberstein with any questions at (617) 964-8344 or amyjim45@comcast.net.

Extra Candy and UNICEF boxes
Overflowing with candy? Bring your extras to the Ward School lobby and the CARE committee will make sure it gets to a deserving organization. Also, don't forget to bring in your UNICEF boxes. We'll be sending UNICEF our Halloween change collection at the end of the week. |
Playground Update
The playground committee is working hard to get the best deal we can for paving services. Do you have a close relationship or great experience with a driveway company? If so, let Joe Verdone verdone@mac.com,
or Greg Mandel gmandel1234@yahoo.com
know. We are concerned a cold spell might mean the asphalt doesn't cure properly, therefore we are going to wait until spring for the major paving effort and wallball court. In the mean time, we'll be painting on hopscotch, four square, a circle to play marbles, and test a few other concepts out on the old asphalt driveway. The best loved ideas will make it to the new surface in the spring. Thanks again to everyone who generously donated to the Fun-a-thon!
