It's official! The last day of school is Tuesday, June 23, and dismissal will be at noon.
Last call! If you have information that you wish to contribute to the placement process, it must be here by Friday, May 1. In fairness to the community and to our staff who spend countless hours working with me to assign students to classrooms, I ask that you adhere to the guidelines in my placement letter and the Friday deadline. Thank you.
This morning we will hold our annual school-wide Kindness Convention. All teachers will be reading the engaging picture book, One, by Kathryn Otoshi. This will be followed by a discussion of the book's message of helping someone who is being teased or bullied. The entire school will assemble in the gym for a rereading of the book and sharing of what each one of us can do to promote kindness. Our fifth graders will be performing skits to demonstrate appropriate and inappropriate behavior on the playground. We will also review the school rules to make Ward School a safe place:
We will not tease or bully others.
We will try to help students who are teased or bullied.
We will include students who are easily left out.
When we know someone is being teased or bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home.
Reminder: For safety reasons, we ask that children not use scooters,
roller blades, skateboards, or sneakers with wheels to get to or from
school.
