News

From the CoPresidents
Thank you to Maxine and Jeff Hensel for graciously hosting fifth grade families on Saturday evening for the last Parent/Guardian Potluck of the fall. A fabulous time was had by all! These events were tremendously successful and we are grateful to all who opened their homes, made their favorite dishes and participated in the fun!

As we prepare for the upcoming Ward Fall Fest - please consider using the link below to volunteer to help out at this fun family-focused event.

In this month of Thanksgiving - we are so grateful to be parenting alongside all of you. We look forward to, as a community, sharing our thanks with others this month. Please also note the Fifth Grade Food Drive details below.

Have a great week!

2nd Annual Ward Fall Fest
An event you do not want to miss! Join us at the Ward School playground on November 13th from 12:30-2:30 PM for an epic fall scavenger hunt, crafts, face painting, music, cider donuts and more! Bring a blanket and a picnic lunch if you wish. Hot dogs will be served too!  This event will be fun for the whole family and is open to the entire Ward community…..we are growing stronger as a community together!

In this month of Thanksgiving, we are grateful that as a community we can give back to our neighbors. Please note that we will do this 2 ways at Fall Fest:

  • The 5th grade will be accepting food donations for the Newton Food Pantry. More details below on what items are most helpful at this time.

  • There will be a raffle ($10 tickets) for a beautiful Thanksgiving centerpiece. All money raised from the raffle will go to Ward Cares, so Ms. Brogadir has additional funding to support students or families in need.

We are grateful for all you do and look forward to spending the afternoon together celebrating our school. Please sign up to help make this event a success: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094faaa82ca6ffc43-fall

Fifth Grade Food Drive
As their final year service project, Ward’s 5th graders will be running a school-wide food drive over the next couple of weeks.  The objective of this food drive will be to gather food donations from the community for the Newton Food Pantry, The Pantry will distribute these donations to families experiencing food insecurity in these times of uncertainty.

You will see and hear from our 5th graders as they organize and generate publicity for this event. Donations can be made at the Ward School Fall Fest on Sunday November 13th 12:30-2:30pm (preferred) or brought to school Mon 11/14 - Wed 11/16 (if necessary). Donations will then be delivered to the Newton Food Pantry on November 17th. Items most needed by the Newton Food Pantry:

Cereal: 12 – 16 oz., brand names preferred
Hearty soups: meat, bean, veggie
White tuna in water: 5 oz.
Ground coffee: 1 lb.
Shampoo
Deodorant
Toothpaste
Diaper sizes 3 and 4
Baby wipes

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Sincerely,
Susan St. Pierre (sestpierre@gmail.com, Mia Inada's mom)
Tony Ezzat (tonebone@mit.edu, Nicholas’s dad)
